A workplace is more just than a place of business. It should be a community that supports its employees and promotes a culture where people can be their most authentic selves. That’s one of the values that the People of SourceFuse very much understand, believe in and strive for. And because of that commitment, we’re proud to be recognized by ‘Great Place to Work® India’ among the Top 50 Mid-Size Workplaces.
Mumbai, 19th July 2019
The extravagant event hosted by Great Place to Work Institute® India, was filled with immense inspiration and cheering. SourceFuse has been recognized as a ‘Great Place to Work®’ three times in a row since 2017. And being selected as the Top #50 Mid – Size Workplaces was really the silver lining this time.
How the decision is made
Every year, more than 10,000 organizations from more than 58 countries partner Great Place to Work® Institute for assessment, benchmarking and planning actions to strengthen their workplace culture. Great Place to Work® Institute’s methodology is recognized as rigorous and objective and is considered the gold standard for defining great workplaces across business, academia and government organizations.
Prerequisites for becoming a Great Place to Work
There are a few pillars on which a Great Workplace rests: Flexibility, Open Communication, and non-hierarchical organizational structure.
All organizations (with an employee strength ranging from 100 to 500) that nominate themselves for India’s Great Mid-Size Workplaces list undergo an assessment. As part of this assessment, all organizations are studied through two lenses. The first lens measures the quality of employee experience through a globally validated survey instrument known as Trust Index©. The survey helps in seeking anonymous feedback from employees and carries two-third of the overall importance.
The second lens is called Culture Audit©. It is a proprietary tool of the Institute that evaluates the quality of people’s practices of an organization, covering the entire employee life-cycle. This carries one-third of the total score.
The institute also considers whether an organization that has met the criteria defined by the Institute on employee experience and people practices is also a ‘Great Place to Work for ALL’. That is all employees in the organization irrespective of their tenure, age, gender, or role, are experiencing a great workplace culture. The cumulative score of Trust Index© and Culture Audit© determines an organization’s position in the ranking scoreboard and helps in identifying India’s Great Mid-Size Workplaces.
Why is it important to create a Great Place to Work For All?
According to Great Place to Work itself, “Treating all employees as equally-valued members is not just better for the people who work there—it’s better for business, too. For example, companies that maximize all employees’ human potential regardless of their gender, race, age, and other personal characteristics achieve three times the revenue growth than companies that are less inclusive.”
According to Gautam Ghai, CEO at SourceFuce, “Top people priorities for SourceFuse are to be an enabler of continuous learning, professional growth, and great work-life balance. An organization which is seen with pride by employees and with aspiration by prospective talent.”
The Importance of Ranking
A compelling study was shared by GPTW on how best workplaces tend to fare against those who are not ranked. This year, the best workplaces recorded 25 percent higher annual revenue growth than other participating organizations.
Their study also emphasizes why managers are the single most effective tool when it comes to creating a strong employer brand and delivering a consistently positive employee experience. Especially in mid-size organizations such as ours, managers are responsible for leading their teams, building mutual trust, and serving as role-models.
The study said that best workplaces also experience much higher levels of retention, advocacy, motivation and discretionary effort.
At certified Great Places to Work:
- 85 percent of employees say their leaders are competent at running the business
- 83 percent say their leaders are approachable and easy to talk to
- 91 percent say people are treated fairly regardless of their sex
- Nearly 8 in 10 say you can count on people to cooperate
- 80 percent say they have some or a lot of meaningful opportunities to innovate
People Challenges in our Industry
The biggest people challenge in the IT industry is the fight to find and retain talent. Today everyone is looking for a holistic work experience that caters not only to a singular financial requirement but actually answers many needs at once. The workplace should be:
- Mentally stimulating
- Professionally gratifying
- Helpful in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and
- an organization that makes its employees feel truly valued
In this scenario, each organization is fighting to stand out in the market as an excellent workplace offering much more than just a job. So the biggest people challenge is finding the right people. And the solution is creating and sustaining an incredible culture that is known far and wide for its cultural ingenuity.
Top People Priorities for SourceFuse
At SourceFuse, we believe that the very foundation of excellent work culture is supported by two pillars:
- fairness and equality, all employees must be treated fairly and for that, they must be viewed as equals
- We see all employees as an integral part of the whole and that helps us design programs that are all-inclusive
Company success starts with the success of our employees. Building an environment where employees feel supported, challenged, and valued is a top priority. The five characteristics that we are most proud of when it comes to being a ‘Great Place to Work®’:
- Welcoming Culture: Welcoming new team members on their day of joining has been one of the most evolved practices at SourceFuse. The new joinee meets everyone in the office individually and as a team, for cultivating familiarity. There are separate lunches with the management team for a deeper association. Potlucks are also encouraged for inclusivity growth.
- Recognition & Appreciation: Without Recognition, a workplace just reminisces a factory with chatbots. Recently, at SourceFuse, we decided to implement a new recognition program. Every time an employee achieves the smallest of wins. They are given a loud cheer by the whole office at the very instant. We have recently added an Appreciation exercise. Wherein everyone is given chits to write an anonymous appreciation for anyone and then those notes are read aloud for increasing employee motivation.
- Open Communication & Transparency: Being a workplace with an employee strength of 250+, a healthy communicative culture becomes imperative. We have an open and comfortable workspace where each one can put across their perspective without being insecure.
- High-Trust Workplace: A high-trust workplace puts the employee experience, not profit, at the center. Company cultures where employees trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with. Employees at high-trust workplaces do happily give extra effort that drives growth, but in a sustainable way that goes far beyond engagement.
- Highly Engaged Company: Employees feel aligned around and committed to an organization and its goals, and act with their colleagues to ensure success, beyond expectations – regardless of whether it is beyond their job role or self-interest. Their high level of engagement drives productivity and shareholder returns and reduces cost by retaining talent.
